THE CULINARY CAPITAL OF GREECE JUST A STONE’S THROW AWAY. LOT POLISH AIRLINES LAUNCHED A NEW CONNECTION TO THESSALONIKI

On 17 June 2025, LOT Polish Airlines took off on its first direct flight from Warsaw to Thessaloniki.
Flights to Thessaloniki will be operated seven times a week during the summer season and four times a week during the winter season.
Thessaloniki is Greece’s second largest city, the country’s culinary capital, and a major economic and academic hub.

LOT Polish Airlines has just launched a new route to Thessaloniki, a Greek city brimming with sunshine, history, and Mediterranean charm. During the summer season, passengers can fly daily: on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, flights depart from Warsaw at 2:10 p.m., and on the remaining days – Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays – at 9:40 a.m. Return flights from Thessaloniki depart at 6:25 p.m. and 1:55 p.m., respectively. In winter, the route will be operated four times a week – on Mondays and Thursdays at 2:10 p.m. and on Wednesdays and Sundays at 9:45 a.m. The carrier’s aircraft will depart back for Warsaw at 6:25 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. With this connection, not only does LOT offer more convenient travel to one of Greece’s most picturesque destinations, but it also makes your dream vacation or short city break just a stone’s throw away – all year round.

A new direct flight from Warsaw to Thessaloniki is a real opportunity to boost tourist traffic and investment, as well as to establish new areas of cooperation between Greece and Poland. For Thessaloniki, this means easier access to the dynamically developing market of Central and Eastern Europe, and for Warsaw, it opens the door to one of the most fascinating Mediterranean cities. On top of that, with convenient transfers at Warsaw Chopin Airport, passengers from Greece can now fly to loads of destinations in LOT Polish Airlines’ extensive network, including North America and Asia. We expect that this destination will foster academic and business cooperation, as well as enable Polish tourists to better discover Greece’s multicultural identity: its cuisine, heritage, and seaside lifestyle.

Thessaloniki-Macedonia Airport is Greece’s second largest airport in terms of passenger traffic. It is located approximately 13 km southeast of the city centre, near the town of Thermi. It offers regular flights to numerous European cities, such as Warsaw, Berlin, London, Milan, and Paris, as well as domestic flights to Athens, Crete, Rhodes, and other Greek islands.

Thessaloniki, Greece’s second largest city, is a location boasting an incredibly rich 2,300-year history and a fascinating, multi-layered identity. You can’t really talk about Thessaloniki without mentioning its cuisine – intense, diverse, and deeply rooted in the city’s multicultural history. The local flavours blend mainland Greece with Ottoman, Jewish, Armenian and Balkan influences. From bougatsa for breakfast, through soutzoukakia with spices from Asia Minor, to Sephardic sweets – Thessaloniki is not without reason considered the culinary capital of northern Greece. All this is just a short trip away from the beaches of Chalkidiki and Mount Olympus – perfect for complementing a city break with some relaxation in nature.
